flask-like wrapper around asyncio

Project Description

Fakes is a thin wrapper around aiohttp intended for people who know and like flask:

from fakes import Fakes
app = Fakes(__name__)

def hello(request):
    return "Hello World!"

if __name__ == "__main__":

Status of this project

This project is alpha quality. You should probably use something else.

pip install Fakes

  • async request handling (fast!)
  • jinja2 templating
  • create routes with the @app.route() decorator
  • automatic routes for HEAD and OPTIONS requests

Major differences from Flask

Fakes does not try to be a drop-in replacement for Flask. Its only goal is too feel familiar for people who know Flask. So the following list is far from complete:

  • no support for python before 3.4.1
  • no built-in debugger
  • variable routes are in aiohttp syntax
  • routes are passed an aiohttp.web.Request object rather than the variables matched from the variable route. Those values are available from request.match_info.

The following is a list of features that are not available yet but that may be added later on:

  • blueprints
  • WSGI
