readline support is not always 9or no longer) provided with Python by default. anyreadline tries to do the right thing and installs either the readline package on MacOSX or the pyreadline package on Windows. It does not install a package on Linux: the Python package provided by Linux distro has usually readline built-in. anyreadline does not contain any code, just metadata to install other packages.
