Fit as much pages of some PDF files to a ‘n-up’ PDF file of a given page size, guessing the layout.
Examples
With default options (my default paper size being A4) pdfautonup on:
example1.pdf gives example1-nup.pdf
example2.pdf gives example2-nup.pdf

From sources:
Download: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pdfautonup
Install (in a virtualenv, if you do not want to mess with your distribution installation system):
python3 setup.py install
From pip:
pip install pdfautonup
Quick and dirty Debian (and Ubuntu?) package
This requires stdeb to be installed:
python3 setup.py --command-packages=stdeb.command bdist_deb sudo dpkg -i deb_dist/pdfautonup-<VERSION>_all.deb
