Twisted is an event-based framework for Internet applications. It provides APIs for creating new protocols using UDP, TCP and TLS/SSL, processes and scheduling support all integrated into a single event loop. It supports integration with GTK+, GTK+ 2, Qt, Tkinter, wxPython, Mac OS X and Win32 event loops. Twisted’s application specific frameworks (Web, IMAP/POP3/SMTP, NNTP, DNS, SSH, IRC/AIM/MSN) have been split off into separate packages.
