aegis runs AI agents from your terminal on the command-line tools you already
use and are signed in to: Claude Code, Codex (ChatGPT), Antigravity (Gemini),
OpenCode, Hermes, or a model on your own machine. It asks for no API keys and
brings nothing else with it: it is Python's standard library only. The
provider CLIs themselves are not part of it; install the ones you use.
It needs Python 3.10 or newer. On a Mac, the python3 that comes with Apple's
command line tools can be older; use one from python.org or Homebrew.
Install it with pipx (on a Mac: brew install pipx, then pipx ensurepath), or
with pip inside a virtual environment:
pipx install aegisctl
or, from a copy of this wheel file:
pipx install ./aegisctl-0.1.0-py3-none-any.whl
That gives you the `aegis` command. The first two steps:
aegis doctor checks Python, aegis's state folder, the provider
CLIs it can find, and the skills
aegis connect claude signs you in to Claude Code through its own CLI
`aegis --help` lists the rest. aegis keeps its state in ~/.aegis; set
AEGIS_HOME to keep it somewhere else.
