AgentCore AgentRun Compatibility SDK — Core
agentcore-sdk-agentrun-compat-core is the implementation package used by
agentcore-sdk-agentrun-compat. It helps applications written for the original
AgentRun Python SDK migrate to AgentCore.
Most users should not install this package directly. Install the compatibility entry package instead:
python -m pip uninstall -y agentrun-sdk
python -m pip install agentcore-sdk-agentrun-compat
The SDK requires Python 3.10 or newer. The initial release gate exercises Python
3.10. Python 3.12 validation can be added without publishing another wheel,
because the distribution is py3-none-any.
The PyPI distribution was deliberately given a compatibility-specific name so that it is not confused with the official AgentCore SDK. The Python import names remain unchanged:
from agentrun.agent_runtime import AgentRuntimeClient
from agentrun.utils.config import Config
The entry package installs this core package automatically and provides the
agentrun namespace. The core package itself provides the agentcore
namespace.
Configuration
Set the AgentCore workspace and standard Alibaba Cloud credentials in the runtime environment:
export AGENTCORE_WORKSPACE_ID="<workspace-id>"
export ALIBABA_CLOUD_ACCESS_KEY_ID="<access-key-id>"
export ALIBABA_CLOUD_ACCESS_KEY_SECRET="<access-key-secret>"
AGENTCORE_ENDPOINT, AGENTCORE_REGION_ID, AGENTCORE_API_VERSION, and
ALIBABA_CLOUD_SECURITY_TOKEN can be set when the deployment requires them.
The compatibility SDK implements the AgentRun-facing APIs that AgentCore can carry. APIs that depend on capabilities not provided by AgentCore either expose an explicit platform-difference error or require migration-specific input. See the compatibility entry package README and the repository migration guide for the supported migration boundary.
Do not install agentrun-sdk and agentcore-sdk-agentrun-compat in the same
environment: both provide the agentrun import namespace.
