What does this package do?

This helper library simplifies common tasks when working on AltaSigma:

• Data Access: Read and write data from AltaSigma data sources
• Credential Management: Handle authentication tokens and credentials securely
• Job Supervision: Manage training, evaluation, and prediction workflows
• Configuration: Environment-aware settings for different job types
• Progress Tracking: Report progress for long-running operations

Where credentials come from

On AltaSigma installations that run the token-manager sidecar, the environment variable AS_TOKEN_SOCKET points at a Unix domain socket in the pod. When it is set, this Python package reads the short-lived user access token from that socket for every call and manages no tokens itself — the credential behind the token stays in the sidecar, and this package writes no token to disk. When it is not set, it falls back to its own token handling (mounted credentials or the interactive device authentication flow in notebooks). The AltaSigma R package is a separate implementation and still manages its own tokens in either case.
