astrogee

Turn a CSV of field measurements into a styled concentration hotspot map. Guided prompts, no flags to memorize, no GIS software required. Works anywhere on Earth.

              ,MMM8&&&.
         _...MMMMM88&&&&..._
      .::'''MMMMM88&&&&&&''::.
     ::     MMMMM88&&&&&&     ::
     '::....MMMMM88&&&&&&....::'
         '''MMMMM88&&&&&'''
              'MMM8&&&'

               astrogee

Install

pip install git+https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/astrogee.git

Or with the one line installer:

curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/YOUR_USERNAME/astrogee/main/install.sh | bash

Once published to PyPI, this becomes:

pip install astrogee

Use

astrogee

That is the whole interface. It walks you through:

  1. Pointing to your CSV file
  2. Matching your latitude, longitude, and value columns
  3. Generating and saving a styled hotspot map

Your CSV just needs a latitude column, a longitude column, and one numeric value column, whatever you measured, anywhere in the world. Column names do not matter, astrogee will guess and let you confirm.

Output is saved to astrogee_outputs/ in whatever folder you run it from.

How it works

Under the hood, astrogee runs Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation on your field points, then renders the result with a title, legend, north arrow, and scale bar using matplotlib. The map extent is simply the bounding box of your own data, so it works on any set of coordinates, anywhere, with no external boundary files or region lookups involved.

No satellite data, no cloud API, no license required. It runs fully offline once installed.

Requirements

Python 3.9 or newer. Everything else installs automatically: click, rich, pandas, scipy, matplotlib.

License

MIT. Use it, fork it, ship it.
