AstroLaza Package
What is AstroLaza?
The AstroLaza package (AL) has been developed by A. Laza-Ramos, PhD student at Universitat de València. The idea of this package is to easily access the relevant functions used during my PhD, even when working remotely and my main PC is shut down. Many of the functions here are possibly found in other well-known astrophysical packages, but for me it was easier (and faster) to create them from scratch than to look for them and learn many working envioronments. Most data analysis and plotting functions have as input numpy arrays, instead of specific class-objects, which I beleive makes it easier to access to the 'general public'. This includes SED fitting (line and continuum), flux derivation, unit conversion, mapping, etc.
If you use this package, please cite it directly and/or cite Laza-Ramos et al. (in preparation).
What modules are included?
- LazaBin: the binning algorithm, as described in Laza-Ramos et al. (in preparation). It allows to spatially bin 3D cubes (2 spatial axis, 1 spectral axis), taking into account a flux-wise criteria.
- LazaFlux: fitting spectral lines, smoothing SEDs and quick fv to fy unit changes. It also includes quick transformaiton of 3D cubes (2 spatial axis, 1 spectral axis) into SEDs, with options of deriving standar deviaiton noise arrays
- LazaGal: derivation of galactic properties, including attenuation, stellar masses (integrated and resolved), UV magnitudes and slopes, etc, as well as their surface density counterparts.
- LazaMaps: figure creation of 2D maps of your source, including errors.
- LazaPipes: custom modification of BAGPIPES (Carnall et al. 2018). In my opinion, a more direct approach with more user-friendly commands and output files. It also includes modification to the original code, which derives more physical parameters and more optios to quickly plot SEDs and star formation histories (SFHs), as well as 2 new SFHs models, stochastic and non-parametric stochastic.
- LazaSim: quick SED model simulation, taken from BAGPIPES.
- LazaUtils: utility functions. This mostly include functions used by the previous modules, as well as functions to quickly obtain errors, multiplot figures, etc.
What is my PhD about?
While here I cannot give a comprehensive description, during my thesis I am working out the integrated and semi-resolved physical properties of high redshift (z ~ 7) galaxies, such as fluxes/colors, stellar masses, dust attenuation, metallcities, etc., as well as studying their star formation histories, including the stochastic scenario.
If your thesis is related to these topics, this package might be useful to you and/or might help you quickly kickstarting your project.
