Bread & Bair

Bread & Bair is a small, terminal-based fantasy text adventure written in Python. Bair, the village baker's apprentice, has followed strange lights into the haunted paths around Morrowfen. Explore the forest, collect what you need before the third sunrise, and bring Bair safely home.

Requirements

• Python 3.9 or later

The game uses only Python's standard library, so no installation step is required.

Run the game

python game.py

Once installed from PyPI, you can also launch it with:

bread-bair

Choose a numbered action when prompted. At any time, enter:

• i to inspect your satchel
• h for help
• q to leave the forest

How to win

You begin with 24 hours and a small satchel. Your actions and occasional random travel events affect the time remaining and your score.

There are two successful endings:

• Find the Amber Tear to light a safe path back to Bair.
• Find both the Amber Tear and Moonstone, then use them at the star arch for the true ending.

Careful exploration matters: several locations, discoveries, and items unlock new choices.
