BugFix Agent

BugFix Agent indexes a Python repository and uses an Ollama-backed LangGraph workflow to locate and repair a reported bug.

Installation

Install the published package:

pip install bugfix-agent

For development from a checkout:

pip install -e ".[dev]"

BugFix Agent requires an Ollama server to be installed and running. The default models are qwen2.5-coder:7b for generation and nomic-embed-text for embeddings; make sure they are available to Ollama before indexing or fixing a bug.

Command-line usage

Index a repository once. Its index is stored in that repository's .bugfix directory, while the CLI records the most recently indexed repository in your per-user application-state directory.

bugfix index /path/to/repository

On Windows:

bugfix index "C:\Users\Ishan\Projects\my-repository"

From any directory, run the repair workflow against the most recently indexed repository:

bugfix --bug "The application crashes when b is 0"

Use bugfix --help for command help. To switch repositories, index the other repository; both repositories retain their own .bugfix index, and the newly indexed one becomes active for --bug.

Python API

The Python API writes each repository's index to <repository>/.bugfix, not to the installed package directory.
