chatgpt-browser
Unofficial Python client for chatgpt.com. It opens Chrome, sends a prompt, and returns the reply. No official API key is required.
Install
pip install chatgpt-browser
Python 3.8+ and Google Chrome are required.
From source:
pip install .
Usage
from chatgpt_browser import chatgpt
print(chatgpt("Tell me a short quote."))
print(chatgpt("What is the capital of Australia?", search=True))
search=True tries to turn on ChatGPT web search. verbose=False hides progress logs.
Notes
- Chrome stays in the background. A display is required; ChatGPT blocks true headless Chrome.
- Desktop Linux works with a graphical session. Servers without
DISPLAYneed a virtual display such as Xvfb. - This is unofficial and can break when the ChatGPT website changes. Use it in line with OpenAI's terms.
