chidori Python SDK
Pure-stdlib HTTP client for a running chidori serve instance. No native
bindings, no third-party dependencies.
This package is not the runtime. It's an optional HTTP client for driving the Chidori runtime — the
chidoribinary — from a Python app. You don't need it to write or run agents (those are plain.tsfiles the runtime executes directly). Install the runtime separately, no Rust toolchain needed:curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ThousandBirdsInc/chidori/main/scripts/install.sh | sh— see the project README.
Install
From PyPI:

Snapshot-aware checkpoints include the replay call log plus optional manifest
metadata. Durable resume is exposed through client.resume(session_id, response) for paused sessions, recovering through persisted host-promise
metadata and the replay journal. Replay is the resume mechanism by design —
there is no live-VM image to restore; the manifest carries journal/scaffold
metadata rather than serialized VM bytes.
Mirrors the TypeScript SDK (sdk/typescript/) method-for-method. See the
top-level examples/sdk_demo.py for a longer walkthrough and
docs/running-modes.md for the HTTP session API this client wraps.
Timeouts, retries, and errors
Every request is bounded by timeout_seconds (default 300 — generous because
run() executes the whole agent before responding; pass 0 to disable).
Idempotent GETs are retried retries times (default 2, exponential backoff
from retry_delay_seconds) on connection errors, timeouts, and 429/502/503/504
responses. POSTs are never retried — run/resume/signal are not
idempotent. For stream() the timeout covers connection establishment only.

Failures raise typed exceptions, all subclassing AgentClientError (itself a
RuntimeError, so existing handlers keep working):

HttpError carries .status, the raw .body, and .detail (the server's
error field when the body was JSON), so the documented 400/404/409 semantics
are distinguishable without string-matching messages.

The integration tests spin up a real chidori serve subprocess per
config (default / auth / concurrency / cors) and drive it through this
SDK against an in-process stdlib mock LLM server. No real provider
traffic; no third-party dependencies.
