codex-mcp-eraser

A Python command-line tool that removes user-configured MCP server tables and hooks from Codex CLI configuration. It does not modify plugin settings or managed policies.

Requires Python 3.11 or later.

Install

python -m pip install codex-mcp-eraser

Use

The default is a dry run. Review the paths and changes before applying them:

codex-mcp-eraser
codex-mcp-eraser --apply

Use --yes with --apply to skip the confirmation prompt. --project PATH also checks that project's .codex/ directory. --codex-home PATH overrides the user configuration directory; otherwise CODEX_HOME or ~/.codex is used.

Before changing or removing files, the tool creates a permission-restricted backup under the Codex home directory.
