echoarg

echoarg is a tool to quickly output the exact contents of passed arguments as python strings

$ uvx echoarg test \ test2 $'\x0A'
['test', ' test2', '\n']
$ uvx echoarg $(printf $'which\tcharacters split\nargs?')
['which', 'characters', 'split', 'args?']
$ uvx echoarg "$IFS"
[' \t\n']

There's a limited number of options, as follows:

-c or --count will output the total number of remaining arguments

-l or --list will output a line by line list instead of a one line array

-i or --interactive assign the arguments to args, print them, and open a python repl with

-- interpret any further arguments as literal

$ uvx echoarg -c $(echo 'hi there')
2
$ uvx echoarg -l one, two
1: 'one,'
2: 'two'
$ uvx echoarg -i some args
args = ['some', 'args']
>>> len(args[1])
4
>>>
$ uvx echoarg -- -l -c
['-l', '-c']
