FillMyFile

FillMyFile is an offline snippet and project-template manager for developers. It lets you save reusable code snippets, create projects from local templates, search them from the CLI or TUI, and share libraries as zip packs.

Install

pip install fillmyfile

For local development:

pip install -e .

Quick Start

You can run fillmyfile directly (or via python -m fillmyfile if not in PATH):

fillmyfile init
fillmyfile list
fillmyfile search logger
fillmyfile tui ./scratch.py

Add Your Own Snippets

fillmyfile add snippet click-command ./command.py \
  --description "Click command skeleton" \
  --category python \
  --tags cli,click

Project templates work the same way:

fillmyfile add project fastapi-service ./my-fastapi-folder \
  --description "FastAPI service starter" \
  --category web \
  --tags fastapi,api

Share Packs

Install a pack folder:

fillmyfile pack install ./my-pack

Export your local library:

fillmyfile pack export my-team-pack

Useful Commands

fillmyfile init
fillmyfile list --type snippet
fillmyfile list --type project
fillmyfile search auth
fillmyfile dbsearch api
fillmyfile info logger
fillmyfile use logger ./app.py
fillmyfile create click-cli-app my-tool
fillmyfile export logger
fillmyfile import ./logger.zip
fillmyfile tui ./app.py

Where Data Lives

FillMyFile keeps user snippets, projects, packs, and its SQLite index in the operating system's user data directory. The installed Python package stays read-only and safe to upgrade.
