Gift Snippet
The GIFT format allows for managing student questions for learning management systems within text files. For using questions which should contain formatted source code (e.g., inside images) a rather cumbersome approach is needed, i.e., adding images as data URIs. The following question demonstrates the problem:

To generate the data uri images from real source code files and keep the in sync with a gift file giftsnippet can be used.
Installation
pip install giftsnippet
Usage
Let's assume you have the following folder structure:
questions.txt
code_samples/
example_01.py
example_02.py
...
In your questions.txt file you would like to integrate a formatted version of the Python code from e.g. code_samples/example_01.py. To do that you could use the data-gift-snippet HTML-Attribute and reference the respective code file within an img tag:

Afterward you could execute the giftsnippet command line tool to add the respective data uri to your questions. The giftsnippet command should be executed inside the folder listing the questions, with a reference to the respective gift file (questions.txt in the example):
