hmptunnel // JADE//WIRE
Full-History Terminal // EAST/WEST SIGNAL
hmptunnel is a rebuildable Python pip project restored from PyPI MProcs and renamed to
hmptunnel 1.0, re-themed as JADE//WIRE: a full-history computer technology underworld with a deep East Asian
focus, a Western counterweight, and a heavy layer of pop culture and underground practice.
The old life-sim reads scripture, medicine, law, music, and arcade noise. JADE//WIRE reads
the same signals as archive traffic: abacus to zero-day, oracle bone to ROM cartridge,
Bletchley to Akihabara, BBS to mesh, doujin soft to datacenter.
Everything is deterministic from a fixed archive seed. The seed is hashed with SHA-256 and a domain key (for example agent-profile:zeta,
mission:zeta, sigil:zeta, or tracks) to produce stable, reproducible agents,
missions, sigils, lore, and themed data. Same seed, same world. Change the handle, change
the run.
The world
JADE//WIRE is not one era. It is a stacked archive of every era that still boots somewhere:
- East Asia: Zhongguancun, Huaqiangbei, Zhangjiang, Kowloon Walled Net, Ximending, Hsinchu, Akihabara, Den Den Town, Nakano, Yongsan, Hongdae, Busan, Pyongyang intranet, Ulaanbaatar shortwave, Hanoi LAN parties, Manila Bay mesh, Bangkok wire markets, and the smaller rooms where the real work happens.
- The West: Bletchley, Bell Labs, MIT AI Lab, Xerox PARC, Silicon Valley garages, Detroit machine floors, Berlin's Chaos Bunker, Amsterdam datastreams, Stockholm demoscene lofts, and every basement LAN that ever smelled of solder.
- Pop culture: mecha, kaiju, tokusatsu, magical girls, cyberpunk anime, Hong Kong action, wuxia, samurai and shinobi cinema, city pop, K-pop, C-pop, Cantopop, chiptune, vaporwave, arcade cabinets, doujin soft, and the console wars.
- Underground: warez couriers, crack intros, ROM hacking, fan translation, scanlation, mod chips, trainers, TAS movies, speedruns, glitch art, net art, zines, pirate radio, phreaks, cypherpunks, mesh gardeners, and air-gap runners.
The tone is neon and dust: jade seals on server racks, city pop over a BBS handshake, a paper crane folded from a dot-matrix printout, a root shell in a karaoke box.
Terminal design
The interface is a jade-framed archive terminal, not a flat prompt:
- the curses launcher frames the session with a brand bar, mode bar, side rails and a keybinding footer;
- the prompt is a jade/neon line:
╭─[zeta@hmptunnel]─[TAP]─⟨電⟩; - startup, version, command help, canon, timeline, missions, sigils and agent dossiers render as Unicode cards and sections;
- the launcher lists each archive with a short description, and the footer keeps the keybindings visible.
The agent layer
JADE//WIRE gives every operator a deterministic dossier and a set of implements:
hmptl -agent zeta
hmptl -implements
hmptl -mission
hmptl -sigil
hmptl -canon all
hmptl -timeline
hmptl -theme
In the interactive terminal:
agent [handle] dossier + implements
implements loadout for the current handle
mission contract from the archive
sigil personal sigil and glyph sequence
canon [category] regions, eras, factions, rigs, oses, languages, protocols,
implements, missions, culture, pop, sigils, codex
timeline full-history technology timeline, East and West
lore random canon entry
theme world brief
Agent dossiers include handle, callsign, clearance, archetype, role, lineage, region, faction, specialty, era, culture, pop touchstone, rig, deck OS, language, protocol, sidearm, totem, sigil, seed, oath, and 4-7 graded implements. Dossiers can be written to disk from the agent console.

implants, codex, chrono, history, contract, jade, and wireframe.
Data pipeline
Original source data lives in src/hmptunnel/scripts/data/*.json. The converted archive lives
in src/hmptunnel/scripts/data/themed/*.json. The loader prefers the themed archive and falls
back to converting raw data at runtime.
Rebuild the themed archive:
python tools/build_themed_data.py
Use raw source data instead:
HMPTUNNEL_RAW_DATA=1 hmptl
The converter handles the large corpora (Bible, Koran, Dhammapada, proverbs, medical and
legal terms, science, psychology, biology, chemistry, hospitals, tracks, strains, Agent
Handbook) and keeps the East Asian character sets (katakana, jamo, hanzi, pinyin
syllables) intact. diction.json is fully replaced: the themed archive contains a
deterministic 40,000-entry lexicon built from the canon, with no unthemed dictionary words
left in the active dictionary.
Rebuild and upload
pip install --upgrade build twine
python -m build
twine check dist/*
twine upload dist/*
Test install:
pip install dist/hmptunnel-1.0-py3-none-any.whl
hmpt
hmptl --help
hmptl -agent zeta
hmptl -timeline
hmptl_s -theme
hmpt-agent zeta
Entry points:
hmpt -> hmptunnel.scripts.main:run (launcher / terminal)
hmptunnel -> hmptunnel.scripts.main:run (same app, full name)
hmptl -> hmptunnel.scripts.lpro:main (recording terminal)
hmptl_s -> hmptunnel.scripts.lpro_s:main (non-recording terminal)
hmpt-agent -> hmptunnel.scripts.agent:main (agent dossier console)
hmpt-gwf -> hmptunnel.scripts.gwf:run (Ghost Wire Freenet)
Requires Python >= 3.8. Runtime dependencies: requests, ddgs.

Lineage
Derived from NeonBunny, a life program by tderk, originally LPro.py and Destiny [2024].
The rebuild fixed the original PyPI sdist dependency placement so Requires-Dist is emitted
correctly. JADE//WIRE keeps the engineering fixes and changes the world.
Every machine remembers every hand that built it.
