HydroMind
HydroMind is hydrological modeling software that runs on your own Linux computer or server. You give it a basin's rainfall, streamflow and other observations, train a model on the historical record, and HydroMind computes streamflow and reports how well the model matches the observations. You work with it in Mind, a browser application; an AI coding assistant such as Codex or Claude Code, or your own Python code, can also drive it.
Requirements
- Linux on x86-64 with glibc 2.34 or newer.
- Free-threaded CPython 3.14t. If the computer does not have it, uv downloads it during installation.
- An account on the HydroMind website with an active license that is not bound to another computer. See Licenses and computer binding.
- Network access whenever HydroMind runs.
hydro initbinds the license online, and every later HydroMind process checks its authorization with the HydroMind server.
On Windows, follow the note for Windows computers on the Install and Operations page of the HydroMind website.
Install
With uv installed, create a project, add HydroMind, and initialize the workspace:
uv init --bare --no-workspace --python 3.14t hydromind-workspace
cd hydromind-workspace
uv python pin 3.14t
uv add hydromind
uv run hydro init
hydro init prints a confirmation URL and a six-character code, then waits while you sign in with the licensed account and confirm the binding in the browser. Then run uv run hydro mind and open the address it prints. The complete step-by-step guide is Install on Linux on the HydroMind website.
License
HydroMind is licensed under the PolyForm Strict License 1.0.0.
