LocalStack CLI
The command-line interface for LocalStack, a cloud service emulator that runs on your laptop or in your CI environment.
[!WARNING] The
localstackCLI is deprecated and will no longer receive updates. Please use the newlstkCLI instead. You don't need to uninstall this one. The two can run side by side while you migrate, just don't run both against the same stack at once. See the migration guide for details.
Installation
pip install localstack-cli-standalone
Requires Docker to be installed and running.
Usage
Start LocalStack:
localstack start
Check service status:
localstack status services
Stop LocalStack:
localstack stop
Releasing
To cut a new release, create and push a version tag — the CI release workflow will trigger automatically:
git tag v2026.5.3
git push origin v2026.5.3
Use the vYYYY.M.PATCH format (e.g., v2026.6.0). The tag push triggers the GitHub Actions release workflow, which builds and publishes the package.
