MCPtoAI for Linux

Chat with AI on your Linux server from the MCPtoAI web app, your phone or the terminal. Your AI provider keys stay on the server, and every action that changes something asks for your approval first.

  • Remote chat — talk to your server from app.mcptoai.com or your phone.
  • Your choice of model — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, local models and more; switch any time.
  • MCP tools — connect remote or local MCP servers.
  • Long-running jobs — start training runs or builds, follow their progress, stop them from anywhere.
  • Terminal chat — mcptoai chat works over SSH, no browser needed.

Install

With pipx (recommended):

pipx install mcptoai

With pip:

pip install mcptoai

With Docker:

docker run -it --rm -v mcptoai:/home/mcptoai/.config ghcr.io/abktya/mcptoai login

Requires Linux and Python 3.11 or newer (not needed with Docker).

Quick start

mcptoai login # pair this server with your MCPtoAI account
mcptoai keys set anthropic # your API key is asked for hidden and kept on this server
mcptoai service install # keep the connection running in the background
mcptoai doctor # check that everything is ready

Then open app.mcptoai.com and choose this server. Run mcptoai --help to see all commands.
