What's real here

• Ruppel & Kessler (2017, Reviews of Geophysics): global hydrate carbon inventory ~1800 GtC; only ~3.5% (~63 GtC, shallow marine) can respond to warming even on a centennial timescale.
• Hong et al. (2017, Nature Communications): direct field evidence that short-term ocean warming has limited impact on hydrate stability.
• Explicitly NOT the "clathrate gun hypothesis" — see DISCLAIMER.md.
