MiniMindsLab Path Compress

Deterministically normalize and compress filesystem-like path strings by:

collapsing repeated / separators,
removing . segments,
resolving .. segments lexically (without filesystem access),
preserving absolute (/) vs relative form.

Installation

pip install minimindslab-path-compress

Usage

from minimindslab_path_compress import compress_path

compress_path("a//b/./c")        # "a/b/c"
compress_path("/a///b/../c")     # "/a/c"
compress_path("../../a/./b")     # "../../a/b"
compress_path("/")               # "/"
compress_path("")                # "."

Behavior Notes

Pure lexical normalization only; no filesystem reads/writes.
Input must be a string; otherwise TypeError is raised.
Uses / as the separator convention for deterministic cross-platform behavior.
