namefinder-cli

Command-line client for NameFinder — generate available, brandable domain names, check availability + registrar pricing, scan a name across TLDs, and check social handles. A dependency-free (stdlib-only) client of the NameFinder API; use --json on any command for machine-readable output.

Install

pipx install namefinder-cli        # then: namefinder search "..."
# or run without installing:
uvx namefinder-cli search "a subscription box for specialty coffee"

Usage

namefinder search "a subscription box for specialty coffee" --tlds com,io,ai --limit 12
namefinder check brewmula.com
namefinder tlds brewmula
namefinder socials brewmula

Add --json to any command for raw JSON.

Configuration

By default the CLI talks to the hosted API at https://namefinder.dev. Point it elsewhere (e.g. a local dev server) with NAMEFINDER_API_URL:

NAMEFINDER_API_URL=http://localhost:4000 namefinder search "an AI code review tool"

Set NO_COLOR=1 to disable ANSI colors.

Notes

Prices shown are the TLD's standard rate (an estimate) — confirm the exact per-domain price at the registrar before buying; premium names can cost more. GitHub/npm/YouTube handles are checked live; Instagram/X/TikTok block automated checks, so those are surfaced as "check yourself" links.
