Use Cases / Context

Venezuelan companies need the official BCV rate to value foreign-currency documents. The BCV publishes that rate on its public website, not through a stable API.

This module is the OCA provider for that source. It must live in l10n-venezuela because it is country-specific, not a generic currency connector.

Configuration

1. Install currency_rate_update (OCA/currency) and this module.

2. Activate USD (and any other supported currency you need).

3. Set the company currency to VES.

4. Go to Invoicing > Configuration > Currency Rates Providers.

5. Create a provider, choose BCV scrapping, and select the currencies to update (USD, EUR, CNY, TRY, RUB).

6. Optionally enable scheduled updates on the provider.

Usage

1. Open Invoicing > Configuration > Currency Rates Providers.

2. Select the BCV provider.

3. Use Update Currency Rates. The BCV site only publishes today’s official rate; the date range on the wizard does not fetch history.

4. Check Accounting > Configuration > Currencies (or the currency rates list) to confirm the new rates.

The stored rate is the inverse of the BCV quotation (VES per foreign unit), which is the Odoo direct rate when the company currency is VES.
