Bakery
The bakery command line interface (CLI) binds together various tools to manage a matrixed build of container images.

Installation
Install bakery from PyPI using uv tool:
uv tool install posit-bakery
To install an unreleased development version directly from GitHub:
uv tool install 'git+https://github.com/posit-dev/images-shared.git@main#subdirectory=posit-bakery&egg=posit-bakery'
To install your own local checkout — e.g. to test changes to posit_bakery/ before opening a
PR — install it in editable mode. bakery then reflects source edits immediately, with no
reinstall step:
just install-tool # from anywhere in the repo
# or, equivalently, from the repository root:
uv tool install --editable ./posit-bakery
All three methods install the same bakery command on your PATH. uv tool install replaces
whichever install is currently active, so switch back to the released version with
uv tool install posit-bakery when you're done testing locally.
