PyGeoLeb

Tests Documentation

PyGeoLeb is a lightweight Python library for accurate coordinate transformations in Lebanon. It provides built-in support for the country's most commonly used geographic and projected coordinate reference systems, enabling seamless conversion between WGS 84, Clarke 1880 IGN, UTM (Zones 36N and 37N), Lebanon Double Stereographic, and Deir ez Zor Lambert.

Features

  • Geographic ↔ Projected coordinate transformations
  • WGS84 support
  • Clarke 1880 IGN support
  • Lebanon Double Stereographic projection
  • Deir ez Zor Lambert projection
  • UTM Zone 36N and 37N
  • Datum transformations
  • Geocentric coordinate conversions
  • High-precision mathematical algorithms

Supported Coordinate Systems

  • WGS84 Geographic
  • WGS84 / UTM Zone 36N
  • WGS84 / UTM Zone 37N
  • Clarke 1880 IGN Geographic
  • Lebanon Double Stereographic
  • Deir ez Zor Lambert

Installation

python -m pip install pygeoleb

Quick start

Geographic coordinates use (longitude, latitude) in decimal degrees. Projected coordinates use (easting, northing) in metres.

from pygeoleb.converter import GeoLebConverter

converter = GeoLebConverter()

# Beirut, WGS 84
easting, northing = converter.wgs84_to_utm36n(35.5012, 33.8938)
longitude, latitude = converter.utm36n_to_wgs84(easting, northing)

Supported coordinate systems

CRS Type Datum / ellipsoid
WGS 84 Geographic WGS 84
WGS 84 / UTM zone 36N Projected WGS 84
WGS 84 / UTM zone 37N Projected WGS 84
Clarke 1880 IGN Geographic Clarke 1880 IGN
Lebanon Double Stereographic Projected Clarke 1880 IGN
Deir ez Zor Lambert Projected Clarke 1880 IGN
