pymcu-pic-toolchain
Vendored GNU PIC Utilities (gputils) for the PyMCU PIC backend.
This package ships the gpasm assembler plus the processor header files
(header/*.inc) as a platform-specific wheel, so that
pip install --pre "pymcu-compiler[pic]"
is self-contained — no system brew install gputils / apt install gputils
step required.
It mirrors the role pymcu-avr-toolchain and pymcu-arm-toolchain play for the other backends.
API
import pymcu_pic_toolchain as t
t.get_tool("gpasm") # -> Path to a ready-to-run gpasm binary
t.header_dir() # -> Path to the bundled *.inc headers (or None)
t.GPUTILS_VERSION # -> "1.5.2"
The pymcu-pic toolchain driver resolves
binaries in this order: this wheel → system PATH → the ~/.pymcu/tools
cache → source build.
Versioning
The package version tracks the bundled gputils version. Packaging-only fixes
on the same gputils release use a .postN suffix.
License
The packaging code is MIT. The bundled gputils binaries are
GPL-2.0-or-later — they are aggregated, not linked; the driver invokes
gpasm as a subprocess. See LICENSE.
