rboto
rboto is an independent project maintained by Ferrumio. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Preview (Alpha). rboto is under active development. APIs may change between releases.
rboto provides async-only, typed AWS clients for Python, powered by Rust.
Install the services you use, import their client classes from rboto, and await
operations. Python 3.12 or newer is required.
Installation
python -m pip install "rboto[sts]"
Each extra installs its service package. The rboto package alone supplies shared
configuration, logging, middleware, and lazy client imports. Importing a client
requires its service package. Use rboto[s3,dynamodb] for multiple clients or
rboto[all] for every client.
These are the package names to use when a release is available on your package index. If your index has no release yet, follow the source installation instructions.
Usage
Configure credentials with environment variables, a shared profile, or your workload's role. This request reports the identity used by your credentials:
import asyncio
from rboto import STSClient
async def main() -> None:
client = STSClient(region="us-east-1")
response = await client.get_caller_identity()
print(response.account)
print(response.arn)
if __name__ == "__main__":
asyncio.run(main())
In an application with an event loop, use await main(). Operations have keyword-only
arguments. Structured inputs use typed dictionaries; regular outputs have typed
attributes. Reuse clients across calls. A Session shares settings between clients:
from rboto import DynamoDBClient, S3Client, Session
session = Session(region="us-east-1", profile="development")
objects = S3Client(session=session)
items = DynamoDBClient(session=session)
Clients and operation references
The 34 service packages below each contain a usage example, a complete operation catalog, required arguments, return types, and full Python signatures. Use the installed package's README and type definitions for its exact API.
