rlm-agent-runtime
Kernel-side Python runtime shim for Zero, the RLM coding agent CLI. This package is installed into the persistent IPython kernel that Zero's TypeScript host launches for each session — it is not meant to be installed or imported standalone.
It provides:
host_request/run— the kernel side of the generic host bridge. Python skills callawait host_request("<type>", {...})to make typed requests of the TypeScript host over anipykernelcomm channel, andawait run(prompt, ...)to spawn a recursive child agent.- Continual harness state (
rlm.harness) — persisted prompt notes, memory, skills, subagent specs, and refinement events, scoped per-session by default with an explicitglobal_=Trueopt-in for cross-session entries. - MCP skill helpers (
rlm.mcp_base) — shared error types and config-directory resolution for Python skills that call out to MCP-integrated tools.
Installation
Zero installs this automatically as part of its first-run kernel bootstrap. Manual installation
(pip install rlm-agent-runtime or uv add rlm-agent-runtime) is only needed if you're pointing
ZERO_KERNEL_PYTHON at a Python environment you manage yourself.
