φ-lang v6 + φC engine + CR38 notebook renderer — Shiv's own engine library.

Baseline (2026-09-02)

shivelinc starts as a full fork of chlang 3.31.3 (the live engine verified against the installed site-packages copy — byte-identical source, plus the cr38/tests suite that the release tree was missing). All future progress is stacked on top of this baseline.

What the rename touched (code only)

• Package directory chlang/ → shivelinc/
• All module imports / dynamic strings (import chlang, from chlang.x, chlang.libraries, chlang.skills, …) → shivelinc.*
• Native-bridge identifiers (libchlang.so → libshivelinc.so, chlang_c → shivelinc_c, chlang_* C symbols → shivelinc_*)
• Env / constants (CHLANG_HOME/CHLANG_LIB → SHIVELINC_*, CHLANG_OWN_BLOCKS → SHIVELINC_OWN_BLOCKS)
• Config paths (~/.chlang → ~/.shivelinc), packaging identity (pyproject name/entry points/package-data), README

What is intentionally left byte-identical (corpus / info)

• data/ — phrase index, skill map, capability dict, version chain, brain db
• grammars/ — 42 grammar profiles
• skills/*.phi_skill, classes/*.phi_class — ingested skill registries (they describe the upstream Hermes skill names, e.g. chlang-development, and keep their atom-coded content valid)
• __version__ = "3.31.3" — parity with the chlang baseline it was copied from

Stacking progress

This repo is the working tree for shivelinc. Convention inherited from chlang: public symbols are append-only (never mutate/rename existing symbols — add new ones); version_chain.py records additions; new domains land as modules + tests under shivelinc/.

Upstream drift watch: if chlang publishes fixes you want, port them in explicitly (this is a fork, not a mirror) and record the port in version_chain.py.
