This release is a pre-release and may not be stable for production use.
slurmscope — Rust implementation (pre-release)
This is a development pre-release of slurmscope, the live terminal dashboard for Slurm
clusters, reimplemented in Rust. The stable, recommended version remains the Python one:
pip install slurmscope # stable Python version (1.4.x)
pip never installs this pre-release unless you ask for it explicitly.
Install
Side by side with the stable version (recommended while it is in development), with pipx:
pipx install slurmscope # Python, command `slurmscope`
pipx install --suffix=-rs "slurmscope==2.0.0.dev1" # Rust, command `slurmscope-rs`
Or in a dedicated environment:
pip install "slurmscope==2.0.0.dev1"
Wheels are provided for Linux x86_64 (glibc ≥ 2.17). On other platforms pip builds from the
source distribution, which needs a Rust toolchain (cargo).
Usage
The same views, keys and options as the Python version; it needs the Slurm client commands
(squeue, scontrol) in PATH, typically on a login node:
slurmscope # interactive dashboard
slurmscope --once --page 2 # one snapshot of the jobs page
slurmscope --help
The Rust and Python versions are protocol-compatible: they share the per-login-node collector, its snapshots and cache files, so they can run side by side on the same login node.
Status
Compared with the Python version by differential tests (function-level fuzzing, the App driven
event by event, real-process scenarios and byte-for-byte --once output); the documented
differences and the checks that could not be performed are listed in
rust/README.md.
These tests do not prove equivalence on every input or environment: please report problems at
https://github.com/FabioBozzoli/slurmscope/issues.
