SnapScript

A Scratch / CatWeb-style drag-and-drop block editor that generates and runs real Python — including full, genuine tkinter — as a native desktop application.

Install

pip install snapscript

Run

snapscript

What it does

  • Drag blocks from the palette (Control, Variables, Logic, Lists, Functions, I/O, Tkinter GUI) onto the canvas and snap them together, Scratch-style.
  • The right-hand panel shows the exact, real Python source your blocks generate, live.
  • Run executes that source with your actual local Python interpreter (subprocess + your system's python), including real tkinter windows — no simulation, no browser sandbox.
  • Download .py saves the generated program as a standalone .py file you can run or share independently of the IDE.

Requirements

  • Python 3.9+
  • tkinter (bundled with most Python installs; on some Linux distros install it separately, e.g. sudo apt install python3-tk)
