tool to fast look into influxdb and insert data from python

Project description

Project: tdb*io

simplified at 0.6.3

  1. A tool to get info on data , insert data to - influx database - (local or remote)
  2. A tool to do backup to csv, parquet (pandas) or h5
  3. LIBRARY for pythonic oneline insertion to Influx database
  4. Even some plotting

Basic setup

You need

  • ~/.influx_userpassdb on Linux or C:\Users\someone\.influx_userpassdb on windows.
  • ~/.influx_servers for data insertion via python function call

The content of ~/.influx_userpassdb is

username
password
dbname

Python script to insert data

~/.influx_servers is needed with ip addresses (line by line is needed)

List databases

Show what is available (db or series/measurements) or the last 3 points.

tdb_io ls
tdb_io ls databasename
tdb_io ls databasename measurementname

For remote:

tdb_io ls -i 10.10.104.21

Show and save the last 555 points of a measurements to a new timestamped csv file

tdb_io ls test somemeasurement -q 555 -o csv

More listing

tdb_io ls all
tdb_io ls test all

Plot - new feature in terminal

In case of more than 20 points, series are squashed (using mean function) to 20 points.

tdb_io ls local flashcam
# plot last 4000 data, all NaN are decimated and
tdb_io plt local flashcam sensorT0_TEMP_phid -q 4000
# two columns graph
tdb_io plt local flashcam sensorT0_TEMP_phid,sensorT4_TEMP_phid -q 4000

Example output:

i... column sensorT0_TEMP_phid ... marker :
i... column sensorT4_TEMP_phid ... marker -

AT THIS CASE:

  • CSV is always saved
  • h5 is saved if tables is installed by pip
  • parquet of pandas saved if pyarrow is properly installed

CLI - Backup all the measurements from the database NOT TESTED BUT IMPORTANT

Database named test

tdb_io ls test all 1d -ip 10.10.104.21

CLI - Insert some data

# later

CLI - Insert some data with a faked timestamp

# later

Using system influx client

Insert data

In influx after auth

INSERT cpu,host=serverA value=10

carefull the tag host will make the life difficult to tdbio!

Show influx content

In influx after auth

 show databases
 use test
 show measuremnts
# select * from meas limit 5 ??

Backup and restore influx
