TE-RBS

Terminal Emulator – Rift Bend Simulator is a small, dependency-free Python library with 30 utilities for terminal/TTY detection, ANSI formatting, cursor control, and text layout.

Import it as te_rbs:

The library returns ANSI sequences rather than writing them directly, so callers control when terminal state changes are emitted. wrap_text, truncate, pad, and center operate on plain Python character counts; visible_width estimates display width for Unicode text and ignores ANSI sequences.

The 30 utilities

TTY detection and sizing: is_tty, terminal_size, supports_color.

ANSI and display text: strip_ansi, visible_width, style, color, rgb, hyperlink, set_title, reset_style.

Cursor and screen control: cursor_up, cursor_down, cursor_forward, cursor_back, move_cursor, save_cursor, restore_cursor, clear_screen, clear_line, erase_to_end, erase_to_start, hide_cursor, show_cursor.

Text layout and indicators: wrap_text, truncate, pad, center, progress_bar, spinner_frames.
