tkinter-bundle
tkinter is not on PyPI because it is a C extension built against a specific
CPython ABI and linked to the system Tcl/Tk. Normally you install it through the
OS: apt install python3.12-tk, dnf install python3-tkinter.
This wheel is for machines where that is not possible -- no root, a locked image,
a CI runner you do not control.
It ships the tkinter package, _tkinter, and the Tcl/Tk and X11 libraries they
link against, so nothing outside the wheel is needed.
Scope
Built for CPython 3.12 on x86-64 Linux (manylinux_2_35 or newer). Other versions and platforms are not covered -- prefer your OS package where you can use it.
Precedence
The standard library is searched before site-packages, so on an interpreter
that already has tkinter this wheel is inert. Installing it cannot shadow or
downgrade a working tkinter -- including the one bundled with uv-managed
Pythons.
License
Python Software Foundation License, as CPython. The bundled Tcl/Tk and X11 libraries carry their own permissive licenses.
