Tkinter Georgian Input Fix

A lightweight Python package to fix the notorious Georgian script (Mkhedruli) unicode encoding issue (áƒáƒáƒ... or empty event.char artifacts) in Tkinter and CustomTkinter applications running on Windows 11/10.

Installation

pip install tkinter-georgian-fix

Usage

Simply import the fix and apply it to any text input widget (Entry, Text, CTkEntry, CTkTextbox):

import customtkinter as ctk
from ctk_geo_fix import GeorgianInputFix

app = ctk.CTk()

# Important: Use a font that supports Georgian characters (like Sylfaen)
geo_font = ctk.CTkFont(family="Sylfaen", size=15)

entry = ctk.CTkEntry(app, font=geo_font)
entry.pack(pady=20)

# Apply the fix to the widget
GeorgianInputFix.apply(entry)

How it works

On Windows systems, Tcl/Tk often fails to map the Georgian keyboard layout context correctly, resulting in broken ANSI character injection. This package intercepts the low-level OS hardware keycode sequence directly when the encoding glitch is detected and forces the correct native UTF-8 Georgian characters seamlessly.
