turkic-transliterate has been renamed to turkic-translit

Install turkic-translit instead.

This distribution is a metadata-only redirect kept so that the old name keeps working and stays under its original ownership. Installing it installs turkic-translit; it ships no code of its own.

Why the rename

Both names publish the same project. turkic-transliterate stopped at 0.1.8 (June 2025) and covered Kazakh and Kyrgyz. Development continued under turkic-translit, which covers Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek (Latin and Cyrillic), Turkish, Azerbaijani, Uyghur, and Finnish, and adds the turkic-translit command group, corpus download and language-ID filtering, and the SentencePiece and LM helpers.

The import name is unchanged. Code that does

from turkic_translit.core import to_ipa

keeps working after installing either name.

Citations predating July 2026 may name turkic-transliterate. The current package is turkic-translit, and it is the one whose behaviour those write-ups describe. Version 0.1.8 of this name is a year behind and lacks most of what they document.
