WebsiteBench

Can AI agents rebuild websites through browser exploration? Given a production-level website they can explore through a browser, agents must reverse-engineer a full-stack version that matches its appearance and behavior as closely as possible.

This package provides the websitebench command, which downloads the 70 benchmark tasks and checks each one against the Harbor content hash pinned in the release index. It installs the official Harbor framework, pinned to version 0.25.0, which runs the tasks.

Install

Use Python 3.12, 3.13 or 3.14:

pip install websitebench

Running tasks also needs Docker Engine with Compose and Linux-container support.

Download and run tasks

websitebench download --task medium # one task from Harbor Hub into ./local-tasks
websitebench list # task names

harbor run --path ./local-tasks/medium --agent oracle
harbor run --path ./local-tasks/medium --agent codex --model '<model>' \
  --allow-environment-host snapshot.debian.org \
  --allow-environment-host raw.githubusercontent.com \
  --allow-environment-host github.com \
  --allow-environment-host nodejs.org \
  --allow-environment-host registry.npmjs.org

The host flags allow Codex installation during setup. Agent execution uses the task's agent allowlist.

The tasks are published on Harbor Hub as websitebench/WebsiteBench@v1 and on Hugging Face as TIGER-Lab/WebsiteBench, with identical contents. Neither needs a login. Add --source hf to download from Hugging Face, or omit --task to download all 70 tasks. A downloaded task that does not match its pinned hash is not installed, and --force replaces existing task directories.

With uv, uv tool install websitebench --with-executables-from harbor puts both the websitebench and harbor commands on your PATH.

Code is licensed under Apache-2.0. Task data and reference content retain their applicable licenses.
