Installation

To use Docling, simply install extended-docling from your package manager, e.g. pip:

pip install extended-docling

Works on macOS, Linux and Windows environments. Both x86_64 and arm64 architectures.

More detailed installation instructions are available in the docs.

Getting started

To convert individual documents, use convert(), for example:

from docling.datamodel.base_models import InputFormat
from docling.document_converter import DocumentConverter, PdfFormatOption
from docling.datamodel.pipeline_options import PdfPipelineOptions, GoogleOcrOptions

pipeline_options = PdfPipelineOptions()
pipeline_options.ocr_options = GoogleOcrOptions()
pipeline_options.ocr_options.force_full_page_ocr = True
doc_converter = DocumentConverter(
    format_options={
        InputFormat.PDF: PdfFormatOption(pipeline_options=pipeline_options)
    }
)

source = "https://arxiv.org/pdf/2408.09869"
result = doc_converter.convert(source)
print(result.document.export_to_markdown())  # output: "## Docling Technical Report[...]"

More advanced usage options are available in the docs.
